Position:
Business Development Manager at Advaxia Biologics
Advaxia is a GMP-certified Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization, located in Pomezia (Rome) within the IRBM Science Park. The company is fully dedicated to research, development and production of clinical lots of recombinant adenoviruses to support clinical trials for vaccine and gene therapy applications. Our GMP is authorized to produce investigational medicinal products by the Italian National Regulatory Authority (AIFA) and it is fully in compliance with the regulatory guidelines of both FDA and EMA. Over the years, the team has built an outstanding track record in the successful process development and production of clinical lots (including SARS-CoV-2 vaccine) and is committed to the highest quality standard.
Job Description:
The Business Development department is seeking talented and highly motivated Business Development Manager (Europe) to join Advaxia and promote our business development efforts. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships and building rapport with key decision-makers in the academic, pharma and biotech sectors. He/She will need to secure new business to expand and diversify the current client base, across all aspects of Advaxia’s contract development and manufacturing services.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, success-driven individual who is well networked within the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors in Europe. The candidate will be able to work remotely and independently, with dedicated support from the Advaxia team, while building strong relationships and a pipeline of opportunities throughout the geographical area.
She/He will be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. A collaborative attitude and ability to multitask are essential for this position. Candidates with prior experience in the viral vector CDMO field will be given priority. While experience in the above skills is preferred, applicants with related skills set are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify new business opportunities and drive the sales process through to closure within the assigned geography
- Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships and serve as liaison between client and Advaxia
- Design and execute a territory business plan for the assigned geography and identify key target accounts
- Achieve designated yearly sales territory targets
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of Advaxia’s services
- Handle customer queries in a timely and efficient manner
- Work with the scientific team to generate quotes and SOW’s in a timely and efficient manner
- Attend conferences and trade shows as required
- Contribute to gathering market intelligence on key competitors in the viral vector CDMO field
- Reporting and maintaining updated CRM (Salesforce)
Skills required:
- Proven track record of high-value deals in the contract development and manufacturing arena
- Willingness to travel extensively within the territory
- Positive attitude, personal drive and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
The successful candidate will be qualified with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) or equivalent in scientific subjects (life science, engineering, chemistry or biology preferred), proven track record as a business development manager in the CDMO space, and must have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the same role.
Location:
The position will be remote based, within the European Union, with frequent travel in-territory required (up to 50% of the time) as well as representing Advaxia at regional and international conferences. Additionally, this role will require travel to Advaxia’s headquarters in Pomezia (Rome), Italy for prospective and current client visits when applicable.
